Carshare service Zipcar has a $300,000 liability insurance cap — which Ron Lieber of the New York Times expresses concerns may be too low, although Zipcar says no claim has yet exceeded this limit. However, apparently 2% of bodily injury claims in the US are for more than $300,000. Read more here.
In Los Angeles, with so many affluent residents and potential ZipCar users, ZipCar would be wise to offer an optional extra liability insurance option. We urge ZipCar to do so.
